A boil is the infection of the skin caused by the inflammation of one or more hair follicles whose onset is characterised by a raised red painful pus-filled sore on the skin that is highly contagious in nature. Also known as furuncles or abscesses, boils are caused by a bacterium called Staphylococcus (or Staph) that can find its passage into the body through wounds, shaving, ingrown hair, or skin irritation. The people with weak immune system, poor hygiene, diabetes and malnutrition are posed to a higher risk of contracting boils. The areas most prone to boils are the moist areas of the body like the neck, armpits, thighs, groin and buttocks. Usually, it takes about 2-3 weeks to heal completely after the boil has been opened up and drained. In this article, we will uncover the effects and uses of tea tree oil on a boil. Now, is tea tree oil good for boils? No doubt, it is. Tea tree oil is one of the most natural and effective remedies for a boil. How Tea Tree Oil Helps To Treat Boils
Tea tree oil is a potent essential oil that possesses strong antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. There is a vast range of use of the tea tree oil for medicinal purposes. Due to its antifungal and antibacterial properties, it is capable of killing fungi and bacteria effectively; in this case, Staphylococcus. Along with this, its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties can help heal the boil fast. According to the report by a British study, tea tree oil is non-poisonous and gentle to the skin. Also, due to the presence of volatile aromatic hydrocarbons in the chemical structure of the tea tree oil, it can easily seep through the skin pores and mucus membranes. Thus, the topical application of tea tree oil becomes the most appropriate and wise choice for treating boils.
