Caring for excessively oily skin can be difficult but using the correct skin care products and having a daily skincare routine can minimize problems. Oily skin is a result of sebaceous glands producing excess sebum, leaving you with greasy skin that is prone to clogged pores and pimples. Cleansing is a very important step in the skin care routine for oily skin. You should cleanse your face two to three times a day, using products formulated for oily skin. Do not use harsh products that strip away the skin’s moisture, as this will simply cause the glands to produce more oil as compensation. Cleansing should be followed by a toner, which will tone and tighten your pores and skin, controlling oil production. Exfoliation is another important step in the oily skin care routine, to remove dead skin cells and clean your pores. Moisturizing is also important, as is using sun protection. For both steps, light products should be used. More information on taking care of oily skin can be found in the infographic below.
