  2. Now, place a vegetable steamer in the pot. Place a measuring cup in the centre of the vegetable steamer.
  3. Place a lid on the pot and place it upside down, so that its handle is facing the top of the measuring cup.
  4. Turn on the burner for the water to start boiling. The water will start to condense and eventually drip into the measuring cup.
  5. To make the steam condense faster, put ice cubes on top of the lid. Turn off the burner once all the ice has melted on the lid.
  6. Remove the lid (use potholders) and the measuring cup.
  7. Pour the contents of the measuring cup into a separating funnel. The stopcock of the funnel should be closed.
  8. Shake the contents of the funnel vigorously ensuring that the top is closed.
  9. Invert the funnel and open the tap to release any pressure.
  10. You will notice a clear line segregating the oil and water appear. The oil will be floating on top of the water.
  11. Place a glass vial under the funnel and press the stopcock to release the water. Pour the oil into a separate vial.
  12. Repeat this process on the leaves to obtain more oil. To obtain maximum oil from the same leaves, this process should be repeated two more times.
